These soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies are classic, thick, and packed with chocolate chips. They make an amazing dessert everyone will love with a perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture. Simple to make yet incredibly delicious!

Ingredients

1/3 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

1 large egg

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

11/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon cornstarch

11/3 cups of semisweet chocolate chips

1/8 cup white granulated sugar

1/8 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 cup light brown sugar

Directions


Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F ((180°C). Use parchment paper to line a baking sheet.


Step 2

In a medium bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Place butter and sugar into the bowl of your stand mixer and cream on medium speed until fluffy and light for about 2 minutes.


Step 3

Add in eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition. Add the vanilla and mix well. Then add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Try not to over-mix.


Step 4

Add the semisweet chocolate chips and mix everything into cookie dough with a spatula. The dough will appear a bit sticky and thick. Use a cookie scoop to scoop the dough and drop it on the prepared baking sheet.


Step 5

Shape the cookies and make them slightly round with your hands. Bake the cookies in the oven for about 12 minutes or until the cookies spread slightly and their middle looks tender.


Step 6

When the edges start to turn golden, remove them from the oven. Leave to cool on the baking sheet for at least 5 minutes before you transfer to the cooling rack to cool completely.


Recipe Notes

1. Store cookies at room temperature in an airtight container for about 4 days.

2. They are also freezer friendly. Wrap each cookie in plastic wrap and freeze them in a tightly covered container. Thaw the cookies before serving.
