Directions
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, add brandy, wine, cloves, star anise, orange slices, cinnamon, and honey. Stir to combine.
Step 2
Cook on medium-high heat until it almost reaches a simmer. ( Do not let it bubble, to prevent the alcohol from boiling off). Turn down the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and allow the wine to simmer for up to 20 minutes.
Step 3
Remove and discard the star anise, cinnamon sticks, orange slices, and cloves with a fine mesh strainer. Taste the mulled wine and add extra honey (preferred sweetener) if desired.
Step 4
Pour into heatproof mugs and serve with your preferred garnishes. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
1. To make the mulled wine in a slow cooker, combine all the ingredients and cook on low heat for about 30 minutes- 1 hour.
2. To store, allow the mulled wine to cool completely before you pour it into an airtight container and place it in the fridge where it will last for about 3 days.
3. You can easily increase the batch size by as much quantity as your saucepan will hold.
