Total Time: 15 minutes

Servings: 2

2 tablespoons unsalted butter(divided)

1¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

4 eggs

4 thick slices of bread

1¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1¼ cup whole milk

berries and honey, for serving

Non-stick Skillet

Step 1

Whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla, and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Place 2 thick slices of bread in the milk mixture and allow it to soak for about 2 minutes. Flip and soak for an extra 1 minute.

Step 2

In a large nonstick skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-low heat. When the butter melts, add the soaked bread and cook for about 2 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

Step 3

Transfer to a cooling rack and carry out the same process for the remaining 2 slices of bread.

Top with the berries and honey if desired. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

1. French toast can be made with many types of bread such as whole wheat, French, brioche, White, or Italian bread.

2. You can use your preferred type of milk for this recipe, however, higher-fat milk makes the batter creamier.

3. To store, let the french toast cool completely then place it in a freezer-safe bag or airtight container and store in the freezer for about 3 months. Before serving, reheat in a skillet, or in the toaster.
